On 2,000 acres overlooking Monterey Bay, UC Santa Cruz is one of the most beautiful college campuses in the nation.  Located on a ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, students attend classes among the redwood groves and live in one of ten residential colleges.

UC Santa Cruz enrolls 15,206 undergraduates and admits 64% of its applicants. Mid-50% SAT scores range from 1150-1900 and ACT composite scores are between 22 and 28.  For the fall of 2011, UC Santa Cruz will calculate admissions scores for freshmen applicants by assigning points for each of 14 criteria https://admissions.sa.ucsc.edu/apply/freshman_guide.cfm.

Popular majors include biology, psychology and marine sciences and students have access to research opportunities at the Long Marine Lab and the Lick Observatory. The university is renowned for research in molecular biology, genetics and physics. The Basking School of Engineering includes majors in bioengineering, computer engineering and game design.

UC Santa Cruz students tend to be academic but  laid back, liberal, and love the outdoors!
