Nearly half of new UC students are first generation

The University of California continues to outpace its peers in accessibility. ¬†According to the UC’s Annual Accountability Report close to 50% of the California freshmen will be the first in the family to earn a college degree, about 42% receive Pell Grants, and five campuses (Davis, Riverside, San Diego, Los Angeles and Irvine) each enroll more low-income students than the entire Ivy League combined.
